Listers I need your input,
Time for new tires on my 4A (solid axle if that matters). Currently running
very low mile 5.5b X 72 spoke wire wheels with 185/70R15bs (25.2).
Speedometer is not accurate and reads 10+ MPH on the LOW side since adding the
A-Type overdrive. Typical driving consists of spirited outings on New England
backloads. Like the way the 1 85s look, and no nostalgia for the 165bs,...
but wondering how 195+ would look and feel ( if they even fit) . Priceb&how
about $100 per wheel budget including new tubes @ 20 per wheel, and not
including mounting.
Read the British motoring articles and Bob Lang comments on VTR site. Checked
out Hendrix and British Wire Wheels
Original tires 5.9@15 Approx Diameter 25.6. Understand that Larger than normal
tires will make a speedometer indicate LOWER than actual speed. And vice
versab&.so a smaller diameter would improve on my current situation.b&if I have
this straight in my mind
Some options mentioned:
195/70R15 (25.75). Few choices @ tire rack. Poor ratings
195/65 HR15 (25.0). Numerous options and excellent prices including the Kumho
ECSTA ASX for $48 that some have mentioned on this list. Smaller tire helps
with the current speedo error
205/60 (25.70) Numerous options and excellent prices Dunlop SP Sport A2 Plus
and Yokohama AVID H4S. Both are high performance all season. Diameter is spot
onb&.maybe this is the best option.
205/70 R15 (26.3) Numerous choices ebg Yokohama AVID T4 for $54. Larger
diameter makes speedo error worseb&.but I need to recalibrate or get ratio
converter anyway.
215/60 R15 (25.2) Numerous Choices including Sumitomo HTR 200 high performace
summer for $48 and Yokohama AVS ES100 ultra high performance summer for $86.
Would a tire this large fit?
What are you 4, 4A and 250 folks running our there? Please do take a moment to
share you experience and opine on options and best course of action.
Thanks
