Triumph Listers,
In retirement, my life revolves largely around Triumphs and the folks that
own and drive them. With the help and encouragement of a few great people on
this list, I started doing some TR aftermarket and NA parts. Life changing
experience.
That being said, here is some poop on the TR3A/TR4 Heat Shields. My initial
pilot run was about 50 pieces. In the course of distributing these first units,
I discovered that I missed a couple of features. One of them was clearance on
the throttle linkage...another was a pass through hole for the vacuum lines.
Both were added in the next production runs.
I am offering, to anyone who is not inclined to reclaim these heat shields, a
new one. I think that about 25 pieces were distributed before I stopped
shipping this batch and I heard from about 10 folks.
An important thing is that these shields serve a useful purpose. The feedback
has been exceptional. I knew it was important for my vintage racer. It did
not occur to me, immediately, that there are times when heat becomes a larger
issue for street driving. And then I realized that all of the rest of the LBCs
had heatshields....hmmmm...I wonder why?
In the meantime, Stainles Steel Heatshields for big TRs and those that have
Weber DCOE Carbs, are available through your favorite distributors. My thanks
to them, as well. Expect more to come...
Thanks again everyone,
Joe Alexander
