I had a 1996 Miata years ago, and thoroughly loved the car -- perfect
50/50 weight distribution, punchy dual-overhead cam engine, great
short-throw transmission. At the same time, as an LBC guy, I did have
mixed feelings about it. Why, you might ask? Well, during the entire
time I owned the car, I wished that it were an English car. I longed
for the day that the Brits could produce such a machine again. I was a
tiny bit bitter that it wasn't an MG-F, and that I couldn't get an MG-F
in the United States. Also, I was always a bit annoyed that Mazda would
consistently evoke (by name) the great LBCs in their advertising. That
was kind of cheesy.
