Paul,
The only way I know to remove the linkage is to remove the pins as described.
The shaft has to be straight to pull through the collar but I managed to
remove the assembly from my TR4 project. I dont believe you can get the shaft
off without removing the mill pins.
Take a good look at the exploded view Fig. 7 on page 370. There is also a
detailed procedure for removing the assembly.
