Except that modern cars generally have room in the compartment for a
full-size spare.
Cosmo's point is well taken ... I ran wide wheels and tires on my TR3A (too
wide even for the later spare tire well). Since 155 tires are hard to find,
I actually got one of "those little donut spares" and mounted it on a stock
TR3 wheel to carry as a spare. But when I did have a flat, it meant the
flat tire had to go somewhere else until I could get it repaired.
Fortunately, they fit fine on the "occasional" seat.
