> OK this is a new term for me. Please tell me what an "interference > engine" is? An interference engine is one where a fully open valve will hit a piston at TDC. If the crankshaft/camshaft relationship is not maintained for some reason (like a broken timing belt/chain) or is set badly wrong, mechanical damage (usually quite severe) results from valve/piston contact.
