All correct. The tubes run through the body at an angle, if they were welded to
the frame then it would be difficult or impossible to R&R the body from the
frame.

My documentation says they were only 5.25" (3/8" UNF), which jives with what I
recall. But since neither of the TR3 in my driveway have back bumpers attached
at the moment, I'm not certain.
