On pages 40-42 of the January 2000 issue of "The Automobile" is an article
about the re-creation of the 1959 Le Mans TR3S done by Glen Hewitt and Protek
in the UK. Unfortunately, Hewitt didn't duplicate the Sabrina engine, but did
fabricate her special twin choke SU's and fitted them it to the TRactor
engine with TR6 gearbox and J Type overdrive.
The original TR3S rear disk brakes I previously inquired about on the list
were, according to Hewitt, from a Daimler Dart and were fitted to a
production TR differential. Hewitt used inverted Jaguar E-Type rear calipers
because he felt that the Daimler disks were too thin.
The are a number of other titilating details in the article.
Googling on his name or the name "Protek" (an all too generic name) revealed
nothing useful.
I wonder what has happened to the the "new" TR3S (his registration number is
LFF 782, if that helps)? And what of Protek who did the work?
