TR3 unidentified mystery piece?

Recently I discovered a part that I forgot to put back on and I don't know
what it is or where it goes.  On my '60 TR3A I think it came off the back of
my dash.  It is a small strap-like piece of metal with a half twist in it.
It is black and is about 5/8" wide and 2" long (i think) and about 18 ga.
Proably a support.
     Can someone help me?
