I have NOT read what Dan says BUT Randall, NO!!!!

You would be using what is know as an Internal Shunt instrument and that
REQUIRES a HEAVY, i.e. S/B Battery Cable size, wire.

IF you use an EXTERNAL Shunt version, the 14 AWG will do nicely!!!  And
avoid the FIRE that comes with letting the "smoke" out<G>!!

For average LBC I do NOT recommend Internal Shunt System.  Racer???
Maybe!?!?

IMHO, for the average LBC, a VOLT meter is way better<G>!
