My TR6's fuel pump started dripping. First slow now fast. At $1.06 per litre
that's an expensive leak. Not to mention dangerous.
I picked up the service kit and have disassembled the pump. An amazing amount
of red sludge on the input side of the screen has been cleaned out. I guess I
will have to install a fuel filter before the pump. Probably means my gas tank
is full of junk too. Aaargh!
I see that new one-way valves are included in the kit. The originals are
staked into the casing. It looks like it will be a horrible job to get them
out. The pump has been pumping just fine and the valves look OK. Am I just
spending a lot of effort for nothing in replacing them, or should I rip out
the old and put in these new aluminum -bodied units that came with the kit?
Please help me in my benighted fuel-pumplessness. (not expecting too many
replies from Volvo owners who now must hate me mightily... ;^) )
