A starter motor is a series wound motor, it will spin the same direction regardless of polarity. Series wound motors are used on many DC electric cars, to them to reverse rotation the field _or_ the armature polarity is reversed. These motors have 4 terminals to accomplish this. Make sure you have a solid ground from the battery to the starter. If the battery is grounded to the frame or the body, a cable of similar size must run to the engine. Harold |
