Perhaps I have aftermarket lamps but when I pulled the chrome ring from my
TR3 the glass fell out in my hand. I checked the one low profile lamp I have
in
my collection (as soon as I find another I will convert over - because I want
to) and it was the same story.
But ISTR working on some Awful Healey's and the glass was better retained by
the rubber without the ring but you still could pull the lens off with little
effort but with the ring in place it was quite secure.
