Hi Cameron,
I'm not all that well versed with GT6 (yet) but I'm guessing the setup is
pretty similar to TR250/5/6. At the following link the hose is shown....

If this looks like yours, the hydraulic line is best made from braided
stainless steel AN or "aircraft" hose. Moss offers it as an upgrade for TR6
(584-785), probably would fit your car, too. It looks pricey at $46, but would
cost
more than that to buy the individual parts and make it up yourself. Plus that
hose is pretty critical, as you've just found out!
Compare to $19 for the "original" nylon hose that was used on the later TRs
and are prone to bursting. The earlier TRs had braided S/S. The original on my
TR4 is still usable after 43 years, but I replaced it anyway, just in case!
I'm not sure from your description what was on your car! Sounds strange and
possibly homemade. I also don't know what Moss' even cheaper "aftermarket" hose
is... possibly rubber... $12.
Hydraulic lines need to handle some pretty good pressure. I'd recommend the
most expensive option, if you can talk yourself into it. You might be able to
shop around for it and save a little over what Moss wants. The specs are most
likely just 3/8" NF threaded ends on a 1/4" I.D. line. The end that joins the
solid line needs to be a little longer, to allow for mounting nut and washer.
The ends have a brake flare bevel.
Straws and duct tape are not recommended! Those are only used on Yugo's, I
believe ;-)
Cheers!

On my '71 GT6 the clutch line broke at the slave cylinder today ... I don't
see this part in the VB catalogue. Can I make one out of flexible drinking
straws and duct tape?
