Just a quick thanks to those who shared advice on my latest TR4 tune-up
-- featuring a Pertronix Ignitor to make ignition timing more
challenging. Thanks to Ed, Tony, Kurtis, Dave M., John, Bob and anyone I
missed. I used a suggested ballpark approach as a starting point and
then ran errands, with adjustments in between, until the car showed good
power and a healthy running temperature. I used a 'synchrometer' flow
meter instead of my shabby unisyn tool, and I really recommend the tool
upgrade. Moss carries it now, though I got mine from a vintage Volvo
catalog before I spotted it in the Moss pages. Comparison shoppers, it's
$39.80 at http://www.ipdusa.com versus $48.95 at Moss.
It's been a while since the car ran so sweetly, and thanks to the
excellent work Ed Woods did in rebuilding my overdrive gearbox, the TR4
is a real joy on the highway too. Thanks, Ed.
