If it's like the A-type, there will be 4 or 6 shorter studs that can be undone
directly, then two long ones that need to be backed off "evenly" to release the
pressure on the springs. If you hold the OD in a vice with the output shaft
down, and lift the gearbox vertically off of it, all the springs will stay in
place.
