I just completed the organ transplant -- replaced the Stroms on my 1971 TR6
with HS6 SU carburetors.
RESULTS:
1. No stumbling going around corners
2. Quicker warmup -- maybe a tenth the time as with Stroms
3. Same speed idle every time
4. Before, the engine ran out of breath at 4000 rpm. Now it pulls to
redline. I used SM needles - originally from Volvo
5. Emission system almost intact
6. It still looks the same -- you have to be a TR nut to notice the
difference in appearance.

three frustrating years ago.
