OK, it was not a head gasket, but I once made a gasket for a car from the
fiber stiffener in the visor of a baseball cap.

The manufacturer of the hat had claimed that they used the same material as
truck gaskets so the hats would not be ruined if wet.  I was in the
ad-specialties business at the time and had samples.
