Joe, thanks for your reply. The eng # is in the normal place, lower left
side, just above the clutch cylinder. They are raised, not stamped. Tranny
# is on the right side, middle of the gearbox. Again, raised. The
bellhousing # is on the part that sticks out for clutch lever access, and
appears stamped. The back end of the tranny (sorry, don't know what it's
called) has its own #, 305048. Oh, the gearbox has a letter suffix,
304692 SM.
When I took off the carbs, I noticed the interior of the intake manifold was
smoother than normal. Could this be a racing engine that didn't come from
the normal production mix?

Dave,
Where did you take those numbers from? They are not identifiable as coming
from any Triumph I can find. The BIL prefix is not in my master list and
the Tranny would have an alphabetic prefix as well. The numbers will be
stamped and not cast into the parts.

Regards,
Joe

*.....It looks like a TR4 engine and tranny, but the numbers are odd and I
can't find them listed anywhere.
Engine: BIL 301435 Gearbox: 304692 Bellhousing: GT 7193
