One of my favorite automotive shows recently has been 5th Gear, which is on
the Speed Channel. It's a show filmed in the UK, and I find it refreshingly
honest. They are not afraid to tell you what they really think of a car,
and they also get out there and have some fun.
OK, back to LBC content. I was watching a recent episode and the story was
on LPG conversions - in the UK. Apparently the costs of propane is about
half of what regular gas goes for, and the government might even pay a
decent percentage of the conversion costs. You get about 10% less mpg, but
it still seems a pretty decent deal.
Anyway, I'm listening to the owner of one of the conversion shops describe
how much a no-brainer it is for certain types of cars, and in the background
something looks familiar. I hit the replay button on the PVR and then pause
it. Yep, in the middle of a variety of brand new cars undergoing
conversions was a Stag up on a lift. I couldn't tell much about it, but it
did look pretty good.
Btw, if anyone has an extra Rover V8 engine laying around, preferably in the
S/E portion of the U.S., please drop me an email. During the Georgia
Triumph Club's "Polar Bear Run" last week, a buddy of mine lost his engine
(Rover 3.5l V8). Something about a 2 inch hole in the block.
Cheers,
