I've had OK luck with the Moss/TRF brush. I've got painted wires.
Every wash I try to clean between the smaller spoke openings on one wheel.
At a car show a few years back I got samples of strips of cloth impregnated
with cleaner/polish to get into the impossible places on the spokes and
rims. As I remember they were very expensive. I think low dusting brake
pads are a great help, but in my experience nothing but elbow grease is
going to get wires "show clean".
