List,

Hopefully I can save someone else from getting taken. There is a guy on
ebay (Ebay ID: nathandarby67 or could also go by ndarby), he also has a
business website which I can't find the internet address for. Maybe some of
you know it or know this guy?

Anyway, back in May I won an auction for a TR4 dash made of my choice of
woods (I chose Burl Walnut) and I also paid for a TR250 dash made of same
wood. My brother won an auction for the TR250 dash. The catch; he needed
an old dash for each car to make a template from. I sent in my TR4 dash and
brother sent in TR250 dash.

We each received our dashes back with a new one he had made. The TR250 dash
was too thick (when planing the thickness he apparently didn't account for
the thickness of the special lacquer finish he uses (which does look
incredible). On the TR4 dash I got, it fit okay, thicker but I could almost
make it work; except it wasn't dished out in the back enough to mate the
green turn signal indicator housing with the threaded tab (hopefully you
understand what I am mentioning). Also, he didn't make the hole for the
rheostat knob which allows me to adjust the brightness of the instrument
lighting or to turn it off. Due to it being thicker on mine, it was a snug
fit and I was worried about cracking the finish, but couldn't use it anyway.
I could sand the back myself and fix this. However, he didn't take the time
to do the detail work like the inside of the glove box doors, wiping off
some of the runs in the finish. Beautiful dashes, though they have to sit
on a shelf.

Well, since then I have sporadically emailed him and called and have not
gotten any responses for several months now. He had agreed to fix the TR4
dash, and would supposedly make my TR250 dash once he knew all the problems
encountered by my brother so he could fix the production on the 250 dashes.
Well, that was a long time ago and I still can't get a hold of him and am
hesitant to send back the new 4 dash because at least I have something,
useless as it may be, to look at for the all the money I sent in.

I see from other buyer feedback that this has been a problem lately (couple
in Sept. commented on the lack of communication and length of time between
contacts, though they all did eventually get their stuff). However, mine
was back in May and still waiting.

Please feel free to share with other lists, VTR, etc.. to protect our fellow
enthusiasts. I will be happy to post about the resolution of this matter
should there ever be one (in case nathan or a friend monitor this).
