Another thing to check is the steering rack mounts, not the rack mounts them selfs but the the mounts where welded to the frame on the front wishbone mounts. The welds often break leaving you with sloppy steering. To check try prying them up using a screwdriver where the welds are . if any movement is noticed the welds are broken.
