Scott,
There is an O ring that fits on the distributor housing to prevent oil
from leaking. Yours is probably hard and flat and needs to be renewed.
It's a simple fix to remove the distributor and fit a new O ring. The
best way to make sure you fit the distributor back in the correct
position is to bring the engine to TDC on the compression stroke and
you'll notice the rotor button is pointing towards the #1 terminal.
Unbolt the distributor clamp and remove. Don't disturb the engine and
when you've fit a new O ring simply install the distributor so that the
rotor is pointing toward the #1 terminal. Re-time and you're done.

While getting my '70 TR6 ready for its winter sleep, I noticed oil
seeping from the base of the distributor. I can find no reference to a
gasket that goes here. Is there a gasket to seal the body to the engine
pedestal or do I have other problems that are causing the oil to come
out at this point?

TIA
