The smaller hole is for cars not equipped with the rheostat. Those cars had
a simple push-pull switch in the top hole for the dash lights and the wiper
switch was in the center. ISTR Piggot said the change to the rheostat
occurred around TS42000, but I could be wrong on that point. But TS39781LO
definitely has the switch and the small hole.

Don't know anything about that. All the ammeters I've seen are the same
diameter, but ISTR they're also all Lucas.
