Well it just so happens that Herman van den Akker has a solution ...
he makes a steering gearbox cover with a floating adjustment pin ...
I just put on in Casper (1957 TR3) and the change is remarkable.
The theory is: Straight ahead will be the most worn spot, if you
adjust for that, the turns will be hard and very little "rebound"
once the turn is finished. With Herman's plate the adjuster is
spring loaded and floats, so you can adjust for worse case and still
have smooth steering and "rebound" (I don't think that is the word
but I think you get the idea)
He asks for your old plate as a core charge and my price was $65.00,
and well worth the money in my opinion.
