hello again
first the good news. finally got the TR3 in roadworthy shape and was able to
get it to the DMV and register it. it is still as ugly as a toad but i have
driven it 30 miles, loved every minute and for a car with a dent in the front
and a paint job of primer, i cant believe how many heads its turned.
but now the bad news.
at cold (well California cold) start i have 90 psi oil pressure. when we get
to operating temperature that drops off to 25/30 psi. and will dip lower
still at times.
i have not worked the motor, other than replace what was broken or missing. i
believe the inner parts are unmolested since leaving the factory. i know it
could be the age and use thing.
however i recall a discussion a month or two ago about using an oil that some
found would do the same thing. before starting i changed the oil and filter.
i used castroll gtx 40W heavy duty oil. can any one recall what the guilty oil
was that some of you were having problems with?
