TS 54487 L rides again - What a blast!
to recap - I looked for the right LBC for about a year and a half, ( a do-able
"project" car), and once acquired April 26, had a rather aggressive goal of
getting it roadworthy by July 6... only missed the mark by 3 days, and had
plates on it July 9. ( We have a long winter here, and body-off resto will wait
'till then.)
Here are some overdue acknowledgments:
Thanks to...
-Mark and the list at large (the absolute best resource for this), Dave
Templeton, Randall, Fred, Gerald, George, Ken, Steven, Joe, Terry, Bob, Jim,
Dave Massey, Frank, Cliff, John, and several others I may have unintentionally
omitted.
-Angelo for introducing me to Fred at British Auto Sports, other resources in
the area, Glen, John et al at the Waterloo British Car Club. (though I've yet
to meet or see him at the club!)
-Paul D for referring me to Ed at Beverly Automotive, and Ed, Chris, Anna and
crew
-last, and far from least, Fran and family for their tolerance while I spent
the better part of 3 months under, in, on, getting parts for, trailering,
researching, reading, e-mailing, web-surfing, draining bank accounts and maxing
cards for nothing but "the Triumph". (Better half Fran was referring to herself
as 'love #2' 'till it was roadworthy and we've since been able to do
threesomes!)
Still needs front suspension, speedo & tach cables, some body repair, and lots
of work to recover from the awful PO paint job (and straightened wheels
wouldn't hurt), among a hundred other little things, but in the meantime,
cruising under the "shudder zone" is a treat!
A couple of people have said, " you did this all on your own?" - response is -
NO - had lots of help and support from great people all over the world, near
and far, most I'd never met before, and definitely couldn't have done it
without them.
