About three times during the summer months the town of Auburn, Indiana has a
cruise in to showcase the cars owned by its citizens and tonight was the first
for this summer. I am always amazed by the diversity and numbers of cars in a
city and county with not more than 15,000 population. There was everything
from the classic Packards, Auburns, Cords (no Duesenbergs, they are all in
museums or vaults) to the Bucket T with a blower and tons of chrome. Anyway,
I was standing next to my TR2 and I heard an early teenager tell his buddy as
they walked by the 2, "Why did someone build such a nice kit car and then put
a tiny 4 cylinder in it? A small block would have been my choice."
My dear sainted mother was proud that I didn't smack him.
