I didn't make clear that the broke starter is a gear reduction number. There
were some pro and con opinions on whether to go with a gear reduction starter,
but it's too late for me to go back. Nonetheless, was told by a fellow lister
that there is a guy just up the road who builds/repairs starters:

I head up first thing Monday to get it rebuilt and should be back on the road
in the TR by Mon night. (Just wish I had the hole in my radiator so I could
hand crank the thing this weekend!)
