The core is clamped between the bottom housing (where the grille and doors
are) and an upper plate. Note the relationship between the housing and the
upper plate, then find a place where you can rest the assembly on the upper
plate or motor (not on the tubes sticking out of the core). Remove the 3
(or is it 4 ?) clips that go around the core, and the lower housing. The
clip end at the motor plate should stick up a bit, making it easier to snap
off there.
Now, with the housing out of the way, if you look in between the fan blades
and the core, you should see a hex nut on the shaft. Loosen the nut, which
should allow the fan blades to slide off the shaft. Now you can lift away
the core, leaving the motor attached to the top plate.
Assembly is, as they say, the reverse.
