Engine Break in Oil

Hello, everyone.

Thank you to the list for the various comments I received when I requested
advice on what oil to use during break in of my newly rebuilt engine (which
still has yet to see a drop of oil poured in, let alone to be started).

Someone on the list suggested I get "break in oil" from a parts store.  I went
to several, but they didn't know what I was talking about.  Some suggested
regular oil with Mystery Oil added in.

Solution: Mystery Oil and synthetic oils are a bad idea for new engine break
in, since they don't allow the rings to seat.  Ken Gilanders at Britsh Frame
and Engine responded to my request for advice on break in oil by suggesting
Valvoline blue cap or white cap, white cap preferrably, at straight 30 weight,
no additives.  Run this engine for half an hour at 2000 RPMs.  Don't need to
change the oil until 500 miles.  Some else on the list mentioned an oil/filter
change after this initial half hour.  In 99% of cases, this is decided
overkill, but to protect a $1500 investment, as the commenter mentioned, a
little overkill is in order.

Question:  Anyone know the difference between Valvolien blue cap and white
cap?
