Yup, it's common and I always keep a couple of sets on hand.  They never
seem to last for more than 2-3 years, and some of them have failed within
weeks of being installed.

I keep meaning to make some molds and try to cast them from soft
polyurethane, but somehow once I've changed them (yet again), something else
always seems more important.  My current thought is to switch to the later
HS6 carbs that don't have those seals (or the equally troublesome ones on
the jets).
