Need assistance: I have a '64 TR4 with some 4A parts interspersed with the 4
parts. One of the 4A parts is the center support. Now comes the problem. I'm
replacing the dash, right and left 'bumpers', center plinth and dash top. I had
originally ordered the 4 center switch plinth but it didn't fit. I then
realized that it must be because the center support is 4A (shift boot is
integral with the support on the 4A) so I ordered a switch plinth for a 4A.
Nope, it is different than either the piece of crap that I'm replacing or the
one that I was set to return. Any thoughts? Could it be that the DPO used a
TR6 center support? I doubt it. The problem seems to be the switch plinth
'supports' (horns that extend from the dash) that stick out too far for the 4A
and the shape of the 4 plinth is not right for the support. These 'horns' are
part of the metal dash itself.
I'm going to take a picture of the three units side by side by side and will
send them to anyone who thinks they can identify the situation (will also take
a pic of the center support)
