Thanks for the size info.  1/4" is sufficiently thin to allow me to
fabricate whatever I want with the remaining 1/2" of allowed thickness.

I would not mind using the flex mounts but they are a major pain to change,
are expensive, and they fail rather quickly.

One interesting thing, when I was doing some destructive testing of an old
used mount, I cut the rubber away with a hacksaw in order to measure and
maybe re-use the metal parts within.   The rubber had a VERY STRONG ODOR OF
GASOLINE!!!!

I had removed these mounts over a year ago!  No wonder the rubber decays!
