I was considering a TR3A in the middle of nowhere Texas. The
pictures sent by the owner looked good enough. Since there was no
one on the list who was close by, I tried the inspection service used
by eBay - SGS. I phoned & they said it did not matter to them if the
car was not listed on eBay (but I still needed to put an auction date
in the website request form).
They had an inspector there in 36 hours and in 24 hours I received
large excel spread sheet identifying every scratch, bump, & rust spot
on the car and a close-up jpg of each.
I did have some problem downloading the form, but when I called
customer support they emailed it to me ( 3.5meg). The amazing thing
was the price was $99.50.

You need to open an eBay "PayPal" account which is painless & they
take credit cards for payment.
