By sheer coincidence (?), 5/16" is exactly what Standard-Triumph recommended
removing from each wheel stud when fitting wire wheel adapters on a car
previously fitted with steel wheels (Service Bulletin T-64-22, July 14, 1964
[among
other similar bulletins]).

So first off, I'd worry about whether or not those spacers are thick enough to
keep the longer studs from fouling the adaptors. As for whether or not the
wider wheels will fit the car, I don't know. I'd guess so, but...?
