First TR3A purchased at age 16; 4 year old 1959 for $793.50 - (funny how you remember some things.) 1) One of the last true 2-seat roadsters (=sports car). Unique and unusual styling. Gutsy feel to the drive on any winding road; regardless of speed. Cruises on the highway with the big boys. (O/D preferred but not mandatory) 1b) The engine/drive train/mechanicals are sturdy and can withstand a lot. Just considerate (not considerable) maintenance will do. 2) The weather leaks (but not a major problem if you drive it top down and in good weather - my preference of course); 3) As others have said watch out for the rust. Floorboards; rockers; lower edges of the wings (front & rear); bottom rear of inner wings below where hood/wing/cowl meet; rear corners of the trunk & spare tire area below; Carl Musson 1961 Concours d'wannabe... >Dear Triumph Folks, > snip |
