a rat roosting on my rafters. Does this
mean insulating my garage is ruled out?
The bat appears to be hibernating. He'll
probably hang out, no pun intended,
'till spring. If I disturb him he may not
survive the winter. Am I crazy to try to
work around him? Thanks for your
advice.

Check with your local coservation agency, there may be laws that apply.
There may also be a relocation option. but bats are voracious insectivors
and will help with the mosquito problem next summer.
