Hello Triumph Experts,
You've helpped me before, so I'm back.
About 1 year ago, the brake fluid in my 75 TR6 disappeared while at rest
(about 2 - 3 months) There was no obvious source of the leak, and I was
instructed that it probably leaked at the o-ring between the master cylinder
and booster. I rebuilt the master cylinder and had the booster rebuilt
professionally, replaced fluid with DOT-5 and put in new rear cylinders.
Everything was great for about a year.
Now the cars been parked for the past few months (I spent the latter part of
the summer racing my other car, which shall remain nameless) and I go to
drive it a couple of weeks ago, and, you guessed it, no brake fluid!! Again
no source of the leak -- i.e. there is the same stain marks on the floor
that have been present as long as I've owned the car (7 years). All four
brakes look dry. Brake lines have gunk all over them, but no more than
usual.
Also, I'm told that if all the fluid leaked into the booster, it would
likely cause excessive smoke on the next start-up, as the fluid was sucked
into the engine and burned -- well there was no excessive smoke.
Ok, so where's the leak? How do I go about finding it?
Thanks,
Ross
