I rarely ask for help, generally from embarassment...

When I scanned those eight words in isolation, I was saddened. You should
NEVER feel embarrassed! <smile> If there were more ex-factory people reading
the daily posts as I do, the embarrassment would be fairly on their shoulders
and not yours - and for some of the assinine things *they* did with our cars -
of all models and types:)
Takes me back to a very fond memory of a man who spent too many hours of his
own leisure time, pulling new cars and pre-production prototypes to pieces in
our drive at home at weekends.
The oft-quoted saying of "look what they've done now! It'll be a b****y
miracle if this car sees it's third birthday" seems to have been uttered in
error My own two Triumphs amply demonstrate travesties of bad engineering /
irrational thinking / illogical behaviour - and at times have me confused as
well. I draw some consolation from the fact that while it may have been less
than ideal engineering that many now pursue with a fervour under the banner of
'originality' - it somehow manages to stagger on - OR The Almighty has been
rather pre-occupied and working overtime in the Miracles Department.
Never 'feel embarrassed' - you ask away and as often as you like. Randall and
all the others will provide the answers - and I'll wear the hair shirt for as
long as it takes for someone else to come on board and relieve me of it.
