Greetings,

I have just had my Sunday drive in the TR4 stopped in the driveway due to
a failed pump diaphram in my stock AC mechanical fuel pump...the variety
with the glass water separator.

You could say I'm a bit disappointed.

Were this an original part, I could forgive, but this is the third,
identical failure I have had, and I fear that the problem lies with a a
very poor quality rebuild kit.

Or maybe it's me....or my pump......I'd love to know either way.

How many of you have rebuilt your mechanical AC pumps to have them fail
again within a year or so?

In my case, it's not the rubber diaphram that is failing, but rather the
metal assembly that holds together the rubber diaphram (actually a stack
os three thin rubber sheets). The actuating rod which passes through the
rubber diaphrams and two round metal plates is used as a rivet of sorts
that binds the whole diaphram assembly together. This pressing is
lostening, allowing fuel to go from the 'wet' fuel pump side of the
diaphram to pass to the 'dry' mechanical side of the diaphram.

So the poll questions for those of you inclined to participate:

1. Have you had this failure, and if so, where did you source your rebuild
kit from?

2. If you have NOT experienced this, where did you source your rebuild kit
from?

3. If you know this problem that I'm having to be due to negligence of the
rebuilder, could you tell me the secret?

Thanks in advance....
