Thanks everyone - the 4 seems to have the edge.

FYI the dogs are cousins and great  friends.  They naturally lie curled up in
a circle (breed characteristic), so won't need training :-)

Thanks for the offer of photos.  Wife insists on seeing everything in the
flesh, which is why I'm rebuilding the kitchen for the third time :-)
