Sorry, no, I have no idea where I got the springs from. Just picked out
something from the 'springs' bin, close in outside diameter, wire size and
turns per inch, then cut it to length. Most hardware stores have a
selection of compression springs, or there's always MMC.

Orchard Supply Hardware (OSH) seems to stock spring wire (aka music wire or
piano wire) in several different sizes, but I haven't seen it in any other
hardware stores.
Easiest way to cut them IMO is with a Dremel and a cutoff disc. Springs are
really hard, so they'll likely ruin the jaws on your cutters.
