Advance apologies for a duplicated posting. Many of you who have visited the
UK from overseas have used some of your trip time to inspect the motorcycle
treasures of a bygone age at the National Motorcycle Museum in Birmingham -
alongside the airport.
Breaking regional TV news advises the whole building is effectively burnt out
and while the staff did as much as possible to save as many exhibits as they
could, the better part of 400 machines in a collection of 700+ have been
completely destroyed. The Museum has five display halls and three of them,
with their contents are gutted. At this stage, the Fire Service is not
offering an opinion as to the cause of the fire but the building itself is by
no means old - probably no more than 25-30 years at the most?
All very sad, especially as some of the exhibits were sole survivors - until
the flames got to them.
