This, and problems like it, are actually pretty common complaints when
having parts rechromed. The thing is, _all_ the pits must be removed in
some fashion, or they will spoil the chrome job. As someone already
mentioned, there are other ways around the problem, but they are time
consuming, _very_ expensive, and beyond what most shops are willing to
undertake.
So, when having anything rechromed, it's vitally important to discuss the
pits and what the shop will do about them. If they can't be ground/polished
out, chances are it's not worth rechroming that part.
