I'm dying on that one. I had an '82 733i. It started running really rough one
day, the catalytic converter turned red, it was blowing black smoke. BMW
wanted $1700.00 for a new cat. I changed the MAS, fuel injector lines etc, etc
etc. All this after someone told me on a list that at 130,000 miles the solder
connection to a resistor from the coolant temp sensor would always break. I
didn't listen to him. I was ready to find a 4 barrel Holley to throw on the
damn
thing when I decided to pull back the rubber covering the resistor. After the
car sat for 3 months due to my thick headedness, 2 minutes with a soldering gun
had it back on the road.
