Several people have volunteered to find me a source........all to no
avail.....this is over a period of 5 years.......they were made only by
Hoffmann, have
a seal on one side only, and were discontinued years ago. Some are fairly
close but will require turning shaft a bit......still have seals on both
sides......some have suggested removing one of the seals, but my speculation is
that
the pressure of the grease gun will blow them out.........could maybe use
with both seals in and forget about the grease.
The only solution I know is get some used pumps from Cris at
STEPTOE2222@ITOL.COM They usually have at least one good bearing and
sometimes two. Clean
very carefully as paper filler is often brittle. Be sure to tighten fan belt
only until it doesn't squeak!.......too tight a belt is what wears out most of
these bearings. If you begin foolin with 2-3 different pumps be sure to keep
the pulleys with their respective pumps.......they are NOT interchangable.
It's a British engineering miracle of the 50-60's!!!!!!!!
Good article in VTR Magazine #52, p. 1037........will be glad to send you a
copy if you don't have that issue......(address?)
