I had the misfortune of backing my TR4 into a wall at Mosport this past
Saturday. Practically before I had my belts and helmet off back in my
paddock space, my damaged car was descended upon by friends and strangers
alike. In addition to my great friend and fellow lister Ernie Husmann, who
has selflessly crewed for me for the past 5 seasons (Ernie, remind me to
double your pay), Western Pennsylvania TRiumph Association members Eric
Stolz (whom I had never met before, I hope I have spelled his name
correctly), Jerry Van Vlack, Bruce Stutzman, Ed Major, and Dave Hagenbuch
all jumped in (thanks for the REALLY BIG hammer, Dave). Russ Moore and Donn
Sapp took 1 look at my damaged car and told me "piece of cake". Bobstah The
Lobstah Lang was in there as well. Cosmo Kramer came by and introduced me
to a friend of his who could be a source of the necessary replacement
sheetmetal. I KNOW others contributed as well, and if I missed mentioning
you, please accept my apologies and my thanks.
I would also like to thank the Toronto TRiumph club for awarding me their
"TRiumph Over Adversity" award. I'm going to try to never win another one.
It WAS pretty neat to have Kas Kastner come up to me on the false grid on
Sunday and offer encouragement, as I was getting ready to go out in my
patched up TR4. What an incredible man, and his wife Peggy is wonderful as
well.
TRiumph people have always been the BEST, and you can really count on them
when you need them the most.
THANKS one and all.
