Corporate politics and product brand placement. VW Audi owns the Bentley
name and produces the car, so for this year there was no factory Audi team
that competed at LeMans in order to give Bentley "a chance" to win. It was
pretty much a no brainer that Bentley would win. I think there were two
privately raced 2002 spec Audis running, both ending up in the top 5?
SpeedTV was not too keen on showing the race this year, guess it interfered
with all that NASCAR stuff... (although F1 was on as well for a few hours
that weekend).
